Imprint by Nathan Larimer

     Imprint is a collection of my photography with a foreword by writer Lee Burbage. The 30 color photographs in this book were made over a two-year period of travel across the U.S., especially in the southeast and southwest. They depict marks individuals have made on their environment for communicative and ritualistic purposes ranging from ancient petroglyphs to contemporary graffiti.  In this work, the marks are intended to act as surrogates for the individuals who made them, revealing a connection between people and nature throughout time. We are compelled to leave our imprint.
